I love the sound of burning souls in the morning

Here are a couple pictures of my Hellcannon. It is a converted cannon since I got it for free when my friend Diez bought it for some bitz. Lucky for me I could still make something out of it, and it fits just barely on a chariot base.

The crew I did some minor conversions since some of the arms were missing and I didn't want the cannon crew looking like one of the Perry Twins. (*No offense meant to the Perry Twins, I admire their work greatly)

Here also are my two DOW cannons I converted back on the same day as when the White Dwarf article came out. In fact, I claim to be the first to ever use a cannon for the cause of Chaos. The crew came from the Possessed Mordheim warband, with some green stuff and weapon swaps.

The Cage - 40K Tournament

Last weekend my gaming club, "GameOn" held our first tournament at our new location, "The Cage". As you can see from the photos it is in a chain link fenced area of a very large (250,000sf) warehouse. Owner has been kind enough to let us use a 3000sf area for free.

This 40K tournament brought 22 players from as far as Raleigh to the Triad to battle it out on our many terrain stocked tables. There were some great battles fought and a great variety of armies participated. We had Space Marines, Chaos Marines, Tyranids, Orks, Imperial Guard, and Dark Eldar.

It was an extremely close tourney with 1st and 2nd seperated by only 1 point.

Next weekend, GameOn will host a 2250 WFB tournament, and then another 40K tournament in the Fall.

Bring in the troops

Here are some photos of my Chaos Marauders. A standard unit of 20 with hand weapons and shields. I finally painted up an old Thrud model a friend gave me years ago as I was short 2 marauders. He is my unit champion/filler piece. I think he looks great in the unit and brings some character to an otherwise plain unit.

I picked up a cheap tripod and made my own photo box using an old white shoebox with some tissue paper to diffuse the light. It is alright for now, but I still need my flash. This causes most of my figures to appear shiny, but I guarantee they look better in the "flesh".

WARNING - Do not follow this blog if you are looking for painting help. I paint with the motto, of what a model looks like at 3 feet away!!! I also paint pretty fast so sometimes I don't always paint in the lines. I am hoping that by posting online will help me become a better painter.

Let's get this party started

My aim of this blog is to show some of my friends and fellow gamers some of the things I have been painting and playing. I'll start here with a photo from my Warriors of Chaos army. Hopefully, my photo taking will improve as my photos definitely don't do my figs justice.

First is my Sorcerer of Tzeentch on disc who was the general of my army. The sorcerer is an old chaos sorcerer (5th ed) with a head swap from a current chaos warrior. I replaced the left arm and added a Thousand Sons shoulder pad. I then glued on various hanging bitz from the mounted marauder sprues.

Disc is made of two 40mm round bases gled together with various spawn bitz glues to the outside. The rough texture is just green stuff. My vision was a fleshy creature and I think it came out quite nicely.

I will take better photos in the future. I think the flash shows too much of the highlights, and under normal lighting it bends in much better.
