Proxy Army Launch Party

There is a Proxy Army Launch Party on Nov. 5th at Atomic Empire in Durham, NC.  Last weekend at Grail Quest I won a special prize where I get to create my own 3-D Printed model.  That's right, I get to design my own custom model.  Pretty cool, eh!  At first I thought they were into the 3-D paper modeling (which I do not like at all), but no these are 3-D resin models.

Their website is http://proxyarmy.com/

Speaking of Grail Quest, I ended up 28th out of 59.  I went 2-3-1 over the 6 games.

Game 1: Matt Irby - Tomb Kings - Tied
Matt has a magic heavy TK list, very nicely painted, and had the upper hand for most of the game.  I could not dispel his magic, and those Tomb Guard took around 6 rounds of combat to take out (even with Mindrazor on)

Game 2: Jason Hunter - WoC - Won 19-1 or 20-0
Jason had a very brightly painted Pink Slaanesh Themed WoC list.  I had a nice triple charge to his main unit of knights early on and the game was pretty much over.  He was a good sport about it, and offered me pink bubblegum which matched his army.  I think my eyes are still slightly blinded from his painting.

Game 3: Joel Flint - Empire - Lost Badly
Joel has a wonderfully painted Empire Light council army with no cannons.  He banished me early and often.  I did some damage at the end, but not enough to pull out a minor defeat.  No Mindrazor which really hurts my offensive capabilities.

Game 4: Shannon Powell - Ogres - Minor Loss
I have a hard time against Ogres with my DoC.  No mindrazor this game either.  I could not hurt his ogres except near the end with a well placed Pit of Shades.  Without that unit dying in one shot, I would have loss badly.

Game 5: Robert Brandon - HE Dragon List - Loss Badly
Robert is always good fun to play against, this might be our 4thor 5th time meeting at a GT.  He usually gets the upper hand, and today was no different.  He was more maneuverable, bigger and faster than my Slaaneshi Daemons.   Again no mindrazor (see a trend) so I had a hard time wounding his Star and Frost Dragons.

Game 6: Drew Snoddy - WoC - Solid Victory
Drew brought a Slaanesh DP with some Nurgle Chariots and a Chimera.  He was winning the first 5 turns, until the Keeper finally saw combat and destroyed his Chimera and DP.  Drew ran a Level 4 Slaanesh DP and his magic neutralized my Keeper for 4 turns by keeping him stuck using Random Movement.

Pre-Game: Tom Geater - Ogres - Loss so badly I am still sore
Tom (co-host of the Bull City Gaming Podcast) kicked my butt the Friday before the tournament.  I even cheated and made my Keeper a Lev 4 and 2nd herald a Lev 1, but he still just beat up on me.  Tom had to back down from our Game 1 challenge to help run the GT.

Thanks to the Atomic Empire and the BCW Gang for running another stellar event.  I took no photos so you are stuck with my summary.

Grail Quest this Weekend!

This weekend is Grail Quest at Atomic Empire in Durham, NC.  This year it is a 6-game 2-day event run by the Bull City Wargaming Podcast's duo of Ben and Tom.  They run my favorite GT, Brawler Bash, in the Spring.

Info for the event is here: http://www.warnc.com/showthread.php?tid=295

While I was away in SC on business a couple of weeks ago I finally got some painting done.  The photos were taken in my hotel room with my IPhone.
I was challenged by Tom Game 1, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we have pushed it forward to Friday if the planets align.  Here is a photo of the model I made of Tom.  It captures that fierce British bravery.  Notice the Red coat and there is a certain stain on the backside.  The base has since been finished with some grass clumps in the cracks along with the white's of his eyes.

My Keeper of Secrets has finally been highlighted (took me only 6 months).  I also changed out the base since this photo was taken.  I was told my bases were too bland at BB (Thanks Ian), so I bought a bunch from Forgecraft Games.  Eventually I will have a display board that will match, but that will all have to wait until Brawler Bash.  The base type can be seen below (I add some wasteland tufts in the cracks and barren spaces.

Below is a picture of my Slaughterbrute/Mutalith/Skull Cannon/Spined Beast.  I magnetized the heads for some variety (very easy to do with this kit) and the back piece slides in and out perfectly.  This kit is quite impressive.  I originally was going to use this as a Storm of Chaos Great Chaos Spined Beast of Slaanesh, but I like to punish myself by taking inferior builds so I changed it to a Skull Cannon.

Finally, I got around to painting my Fiends of Slaanesh.  No photo of them painted though.  These guys are a pain in the royal rear to rank up.  I had to pin them into their bases and mark the bases or else they would never rank up.
I hope you all enjoy these pics and wish me luck.
