There is a Woe that is Madness...

Rumors on the Daemon Prince in the book have gotten me all excited to play my plastic Balrog Conversion with a Soul Grinder sword and an Ogre Kingdom's standard for a head..

The rumors have him getting 50 or 75 points worth of Gifts and 25 points for a Magic Item.  You have to Mark him, which sucks as I have always been more of an Undivided/Undecided person myself.  That along with a general drop in price, 5++, Unbreakable, and better stats than a Chaos Lord I get all sorts of giddy.

Either I can substitute him for my Sorcerer Lord or make him a Khorne Killing Machine with 2+/5++ saves, give him the 2+ AS and with 6 S6 attacks or a Dawnstone (for re-rollable 2+ AS) and start shredding those pansy Humans and Elves that are popping up all over the place. 

Here is an old picture of my conversion I did years ago for Brawler Bash 3 or 4.  I used him as a Fire DP and got me a tally of 0-5 in that GT :)

A clearer picture of the Slaughterbrute.  Still not a big fan.  The 3 tongue is pretty neat.

Now these Dragon Ogre heads are great.  The other ones look to Ogre Kingdomish.  These heads are how I envisioned them.  Completely change the look of the model.

 

 Some clearer Forsaken pictures.  I still will use my converted 5th edition plastic warriors, which look just as good.  There are some nice bitz and heads, but they still don't do it for me.  Bleh.

 

Warriors of Chaos on the Horizon?

These pictures were leaked and posted on Warseer.  I was able to copy them before that link was deleted.   Original post said Feb 2nd release date.

Overall I am not liking the new look of the recent releases.  They look too "Warmachine-ish" for my liking.  As a die-hard Warriors of Chaos player for many many years, I will pick up some.  I prefer the darker imagery from earlier models.   There are lots of choices so the variety of armies out there will be nice.

Dragon Ogres - They look ok. C

 Vilitch - Not bad, I like this quite a bit. A-

 Mutalith Voprtex Beast - I do not know what to think. C+/B-  It will probably look better in person with a different paint job.

 Trogg - Awesome figure.  A++

 Slaughterbrute - Looks too much like Scyla C-

 Forsaken - Glad I have had them converted years ago from the first plastic chaos warriors.  These look horrible D-

Plastic Chaos Lord - Nice A-

 Chariot - I am not liking this new look for WoC C-

 Gorebeast Chariot - Looks to Warmachinish D+

Chimera - Looks like they get this as well.  I won one at the last Brawler Bash so I am covered on that one.

An Ally Comes Through

My friend Rufus surprised me and painted a Slaanesh Chariot for me as a gift.  Rufus is in the local Model Builders Club, so sometimes he just picks up kits just to put together and paint.  Now he didn't like the Daemonette on top, so he made a little brazier with some crystals in it, and put that Daemonette on one of the steeds.  I think Rufus did a great job, so I took some photos to show everyone.

OK Fiends

Here are my two fiends for my Slaanesh Army.  I used Chaos Spawn models, and tried to make them as "spindly" as possible.  They are ok, but over the weekend I heard rumors of plastic fiends down the pipeline, so these will make do for now.  I painted them while I was painting my last set of Daemonettes.  These go much faster as I painted these 2 Fiends in about the same time as one Daemonette.

The one thing I hate about taking photographs of my miniatures is that every mold line you miss pops out at you.  You spend hours scraping away each mold line and even after you paint it, you still don't see it or you go "outside the lines" a bit while painting a small detail (like an eye).  Then you take a photo and POW it smacks you in the face.  So for now on, just ignore those tiny flaws.  You can't see it from 3 feet away, which is my Golden Rule for table top quality.

I can also blame the lighting as well.  The do not think I used a flash, but I might have had one of the lamps too close.  The light has washed away some highlighting.  I highlighted the grey skin with a few layers, and the blue isn't as chalky white as the photos show.
